Week 6 RXO Update
September 21, 2026
Midwest Rugby Union teams showed continued progress managing Rugby Xplorer (RXO) requirements during Week 5 of competition, with no apparent eligibility issues identified for the week. Teams appear to be gaining a stronger understanding of the requirements related to professional, elite, and non-resident players, including how those requirements apply to multi-sided clubs.
That progress is encouraging. However, the Union is still seeing recurring errors related to properly entering player substitutions in RXO, despite this reminder being shared weekly since the beginning of the season.
SUBSTITUTION ENTRY REMAINS A POINT OF EMPHASIS
As a reminder, teams must enter the player coming onto the field when a player is substituted off. This must be completed in RXO within the same transaction used to remove the substituted player: select the minus symbol to remove the player from the match roster, then select the plus symbol for the player entering the match.
This step is necessary to show that the replacement player actually participated in the match and is required for eligibility purposes. The process is addressed specifically around the two-minute mark of the RXO training video.
The continuing substitution issues also show that some teams are not confirming all match information at the conclusion of the game. If teams need matches reopened after the fact to correct these issues, the Union will charge the $50 match opening fee.
WEEK 5 SUBSTITUTION REPORTING ISSUES
The following teams did not properly indicate substitutions in their Week 5 matches:
- Fort Wayne WD2
- Grand Rapids Growlers WD1
- Lake County Coyotes MD2 & MD4
- Palmer College WD2
MATCH CLOSURE REMINDER
Teams are also reminded to properly close matches at the conclusion of the game. Closing the match is important because it prevents additional changes from being entered into RXO after the match has concluded.
In Week 5, Waukesha MD3 and Rochester Renegades WD2 failed to close their matches.
PROPERLY DOCUMENTING FORFEITURES
Some teams are still forgetting to indicate forfeitures correctly. To properly document a forfeiture, teams should enter their match roster so players receive credit, change the match status to forfeit, indicate which team forfeited and when, and score the non-forfeiting side four penalty tries to reflect a four-try, 28-0 win.
Peoria Pigs MD3 and Fox Cities Gargoyles MD3 failed to properly indicate their matches were forfeitures in Week 5.
