Palmer Women Cleared for Playoff Eligibility

Palmer College Women will be eligible for postseason participation during the 2026-27 competitive cycle following a successful appeal related to the team’s move from the Midwest Premiership (D1) to Women’s Division 2 competition.

After the 2024-25 competitive cycle, Palmer Women elected to self-relegate from the Midwest Premiership into Women’s Division 2. In response, the MWRU Competition Committee determined that the team should be barred from postseason participation for two competitive cycles: 2025-26 and 2026-27.

That decision was later appealed. Upon review, it was determined that the Competition Committee had not formally followed the Union’s documented and published policies in effect at the time the postseason bar was imposed.

As a result, Palmer Women’s postseason restriction will be limited to one competitive cycle. Having served that restriction during the 2025-26 cycle, Palmer Women are now eligible to qualify for and participate in the Women’s Division 2 postseason during the 2026-27 competitive cycle, subject to applicable competition standings, qualification criteria, and any other published Midwest Rugby Union requirements.
