On-Field ID Checks & Live Scoring

The Midwest Rugby Union has updated its 2026–27 Rules of Competition to require all teams to conduct on-field identification checks before every league match and to live score matches at the field. The changes are intended to create a more consistent match-day process across the union and ensure that eligibility and scoring procedures are handled clearly and accurately before and during competition.

The updates were announced during the Midwest Rugby Union Summer General Meeting in July. Following the announcement, the union hosted three training sessions for member clubs to explain the purpose of the new requirements and provide step-by-step guidance on how teams should conduct on-field ID checks and complete live scoring procedures.

WHAT TEAMS NEED TO DO

• Conduct on-field ID checks before all Midwest Rugby Union league games.
• Confirm that the required players and match participants are properly checked before kickoff.
• Live score matches at the field so results and match information are recorded in real time.
• Follow the procedures explained during the Midwest Rugby Union training sessions.

FINAL TRAINING SESSION

Member clubs that missed the first two training sessions still have one final opportunity to attend. The final training session will be held on Wednesday, August 26, at 9:00 PM ET / 8:00 PM CT. Clubs are strongly encouraged to participate so they understand both the intent of the new requirements and the practical steps needed to complete ID checks and live scoring correctly on match day.
