2022 Midwest 7s Series Announced

[CHICAGO, IL] – The Midwest Rugby Union’s Competition 7s Sub-committee has selected the host tournaments for the 2022 Midwest 7s Series. Once again, the men’s competition will be separated into conference-based competitions for the first two rounds of the series with the third round being a “crossover” event. The women’s competition will feature three rounds strategically placed throughout the Union, the same as 2021. Congratulations to the following host sites: Women’s Schedule:

• Saturday, June 11, 2022 – Madtown 7s in Madison, WI
• Saturday, June 18, 2022 – Cin City 7s in Cincinnati, OH
• Saturday, July 9, 2022 – Gateway 7s in St. Louis, MO

Eastern Conference Men’s Schedule*:

• Saturday, June 18, 2022 – Cin City 7s in Cincinnati, OH
• Saturday, June 25, 2022 – Gem City 7s in Dayton, OH
• Saturday, July 9, 2022 – Gateway 7s in St. Louis, MO

Western Conference Men’s Schedule*:

• Saturday, June 11, 2022 – Madtown 7s in Madison, WI
• Saturday, June 18, 2022 – Mad Jack 7s in Des Moines, IA
• Saturday, July 9, 2022 – Gateway 7s in St. Louis, MO

*For the men’s competition, the conferences are split in the following manner: Eastern Conference – Allegheny, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio; Western Conference – CARFU, Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin. The top eight (8) women’s sides and the top four (4) men’s sides from each Conference will compete at the Midwest Championship on Saturday, July 23, 2022. The Midwest 7s Championship will be hosted at Firehouse 7s at the Chicago Blaze Rugby Facility in Lemont, IL. The top two (2) men and women’s sides will earn bids to USA Club Rugby 7s Nationals tentatively scheduled for August 13, 2022. The 7s Subcommittee would like to sincerely thank all of the clubs and organizations who applied to bid a 2022 7s Qualifier. All of the bids were high quality making the decision process very difficult. We look forward to working with all our 2022 host sites and the other bidding sites in the future.
